Mazda Case Study

Precision service from order to delivery, with night distribution for dealers.

When leading automotive manufacturer Mazda decided to set up a parts fulfillment center in the UK, it was a strategic move to achieve substantial lead-time improvements in serving its automotive dealers across the UK. Mazda already had a parts fulfillment center in Belgium, and looked to XPO Logistics to provide a fully-integrated warehouse and transport solution dedicated to its British dealer network.

XPO developed a robust solution that integrated Mazda into our national warehouse and fulfillment hub in central England. Our teams developed a customized system with the capacity to store 11,500 different product codes and dispatch them overnight to Mazda dealerships. Orders received by 6pm are delivered by 8am the following morning by specialist teams in XPO’s night distribution network. In addition, we worked with Mazda to modify our warehouse management system with tailored stock management capabilities to support bespoke kitting services. This precision solution prepares packs specifically linked to new vehicle orders, including items such as handbooks and satellite navigation cards.

As a customer of XPO’s night distribution network, Mazda has reduced lead times by 24 hours and can guarantee overnight delivery. Mazda has full visibility from order receipt through final delivery, and is able to consistently provide its UK dealers with an On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) delivery rate of better than 99%.
